I have updated a portfolio on Student Gem which is a website where employers look for undergraduates/graduates for one off projects. Showing off all my skills gives possible employment opportunities.

Graduation Thimble!

I am a thimble collector and have been for quite some time now, I'd say for at least 10 years.  My Grandparents Jean and Derick brought me one for my graduation, which took place on Mon 18th July at De Montfort Hall, Leicester.  This thimble is brilliantly unique and adds to my collection perfectly.

Another portfolio launched!

I have also found another site where I can present my portfolio to the world wide web. Please check it out :)

50's Textiles Inspiration

Lucienne Day is a British textile designer who I found very inspiring throughout my final major project 'Ocean Florals'.  Her husband Robin Day was also her work partner where they designed furniture. But Lucienne did some really interesting textiles prints during the 1950s.  They include a variety of colours, scale and texture.  I really like the unique shapes and use of linear within her designs.

Lucienne's prints were inspired by nature and plants. But I feel they look like them may have had some African influence as well.

Ocean Florals

'Ocean Florals' was the chosen theme for my final major project. I was inspired by the different natures of the deep ocean. I visited London Aquarium and The National History Museum where I gathered photographs and other relevant research. I then explored several hand and digital printing techniques to create a contemporary collection for interiors. I was also inspired by 50s textiles with designers such as Lucienne Day.  The collection was then displayed amongst other students on my course and other courses at the degree show at De Montfort University, Leicester.

Although my collection was split into two collections using the same theme, colour palette and printing techniques.  But this collection was more CAD based and most were printed on paper.
