Halloween Inspiration

I found this whilst looking for halloween inspiration the other day and thought it would be perfect to share with you all on my blog. These fashion designs are inspired by many of Tim Burton's Films, I believe they were reinvented by many of Harper's Bazaar Staff.

Me & My Pen

It's Follow Friday!

Behind Me & My Pen is typographer, illustrator and designer Daren Newman.  Daren tends to create art with just the classic Black and White, although sometimes he does add a touch of colour.  Many of his illustrations are very detailed, delicate and drawn with fine line pens.  Although Daren's typography is very feminine and sometimes have illustrations added to them.

I particularly like the birds Daren uses in some of his work especially how they are drawn into the pieces of art, and with some collage.  It's nice to see different medias in one design/illustration.  Daren has worked for many clients in the past including Absolut Vodka, Paul Smith, Peter and Paul, also for several exhibitions for the title.

Michael van der Ham S/S 2013

Fashion Designer Michael van der Ham has a beautiful new collection with clashing colours, textures and materials.  Although these three important parts to a garments are each very powerful, Michael has them in control withing each piece.  Most designers have a bit of each part but Michael has magically used all three together very well bringing a very strong collection to the catwalk.

"This season's supremely controlled/uncontrolled fashion collage/bricolage was inspired by the surrealist art of the Spanish painter Joan Miró and the portraiture of the Malian photographer Malick Sidibé. An unlikely pairing, and not one that necessarily jumped out at you from the runway. But it is how this material sits side by side in van der Ham's head that matters (you get the feeling that most of these clothes are composed in the mind before anywhere else), and anyway, as he explained, "I don't want to be literal." As if he ever could. The array of fabrics (hand-painted by the designer himself), appliqués, and embroideries, the standout, specially designed dévoré and what van der Ham referred to as a "hairy jacquard," all made for a bristling and bravura display of technique. But also one that was as desirable to wear and own as just to admire. The compulsion to create both is the one that makes all good fashion."

I absolutely adore this collection especially the simple mark making textures that are used against the bold bright colours. I think my favourite has to be the second image.

Ali Miller London

Ali Miller is a London based artist bringing forgotten household objects and memories back to life through her passion for textile design.  Ali is inspired by her family's memories, history and heritage recreating them through different textures, patterns and materials.  She is also inspired by designer William Morris particularly his wallpaper designs.  Alis unique style brings a complete different approach to textile design.  I really like the idea of the diversity of medias she uses for one particular drawing.

Ali has produced many different designs for a wide variety of textile products including tea towels, aprons, ceramics, cotton bags, cushions, greeting cards and original artwork which are all produced from her own home.  You can purchase Ali's products from her online shop.  You can also find Ali on Facebook.
